The Dwarven Axe is a pattern inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books. I designed it for two of my friends from the UK. The monochromatic design features only full crosses and can be stitched on any counted cross stitch fabric
When Tolkien wrote the Hobbit, he initially used different runes (based on Anglo / Saxon runes). It’s those runes I used for this design. For The Lord of the Rings Tolkien developed a unique set of runes, of which I have also included a chart.
If you have watched my flosstube channel you might know that I enjoy writing songs and making music. So to celebrate this new design I wrote and performed a special Dwarven Song which is included in your downloads. Some lines from the song are also found as the runic poem on the design
Break might my axe
Crack will the stone
My love for you
Never be gone
