The Last Supper, painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1495 and 1498, is one of the most significant works of the Italian Renaissance and a masterpiece of religious art. In the scene, Jesus sits at the center of a long table, flanked by his twelve apostles, who are captured in a range of gestures and expressions that convey shock, confusion, and disbelief. Da Vinci grouped the apostles into four groups of three, with Jesus isolated in the center, symbolizing his divine status.
